I used this as a teaming exercise at work and it turned out to be a great afternoon. It does require some preparation on the kit itself and the location (ie. decoration of the room your are going to use to carry out the murder mystery). Also the enthusiasm of your participants is primordial to the success of this event.

The story was interesting and had loads of different characters some more involved than others unfortunately.

Overall a great way to spend some time with friends but also to get the teaming going.
Thanks

I would highly recommend this company as a resource for hosting a murder mystery party.  I purchased "Murder on the French Riviera" and immediately received access to the game materials.  I also had a couple of questions and received a prompt response from the company.  Even the author emailed me to answer a question!

We had 11 people play the game and everyone had a fantastic time.  We had 3 "extra" characters (those that are not required to play the game but that are available if you have more people than primary characters).  The folks who had these extra characters had no idea that they were not "primary" players and enjoyed the game as much as everyone else.

I did make a couple of revisions.  The first was to create an evidence board that was displayed during the game.  I printed off color photos from the web that matched the descriptions in the game and then pasted them on a presentation board.  I also put other evidence pieces on the board as well.  It seemed to be a big hit.

Another revision I made was to give Father Chausible lines in the first round instead of having him observe as the game called for.  It was very easy.  Just typed up a paragraph of text that was relevant to the game.

Again I highly recommend this company as well as this particular mystery.  I'm planning to do another party for a different group of friends soon.

Some tips:
1 - definitely wear costumes - it helps to set the mood and keep people in character

2 - let folks ad lib as they wish, as long as folks stay close to the text.

3 - at the end of each round recap what has been discovered/revealed

4 - have folks come to the party with a fun attitude, and willing to assume the role they have.

Truly - a lot of fun.  I can't wait for the next one!

FAQs For This Game
  • Question: How can I send via email a page from my print kit? My instructions say to send the guests the Riviera Rapport and the Scene of the Crime but I am not sure how to do this from a pdf file.
Answer: The Riviera Rapport and the Scene of the Crime are pre-game clues. These clues are sent along with the email invitations and character info. Log on as Host, go to Communications. Then select "send Pre-game clues"(you'll have to assign characters to guests and include email addresses first, though)
