Murder Mystery Games and Parties

'Beauty Shop of Horrors' Synopsis
By: Ronee Knoche
6 - 8 Guests (Women Only)

Betty’s was the crème de la crème of beauty in Harmony Port until Betty died.  In the twenty years since then, the building’s been abandoned.  Cobwebs clung to curling irons and old hair dryers still left at the shop.  Now Betty’s granddaughter, Brittany, the prettiest woman in town, has decided to reopen.  She’s sent invitations to everyone she knows for a Free Day of Beauty at Betty’s Grand Reopening, but when the guests arrive they find Britt’s lifeless body lying in the center of the shop.  Now they’re all suspects.  Great for spa parties.  Plan a whole night of makeovers while the mystery unfolds.  Just watch your back!

A great standard format game for girl's night out.  Set in any era, perfect for a weekend away, or for primping the night before a big event.

We had a great time.  We were a 40's & over crowd and casually sat around the table interrogating each other.  There was caution tape everywhere, a masking tape "body shape" on the tile and two tables set up (game and dining).  Everyone did an amazing job dressing the part.  There were two guests that I met that night (friends of friends) that made the party by being bold, in character, bringing props, etc.  We interspersed food, birthday cake, natural homemade facial scrub and facial sauna (aromatherapy oils).  I gifted the guests with beauty items.  Everyone seemed to have a good time.  I really want to host it again with a different crowd and make it more competitive.  I'd have different beauty centers and have everyone mill around to do their own interrogatng.  Overall our night was very successful.

We liked the game a lot. To add to the fun we had nail polishes and hair stuff available and offered prizes (gift certs to beauty salons) for best hair and best nails. We also awarded best performance and to the character who solved the mystery.

Oh my gosh! This party was my funnest yet! First, we played the whosunnit game as we waited for the others to come. Then we did the 1st round clues. After everyone got a little bit of an idea I had a camera room set up and I called everyone in one by one with the exeption of the twins. They told me who I thought was the murderer and why. Then we did the round 2 clues. Then we had another session of camera. Then we had dinner. PIZZA! Yum!
Then we had the round three clues. Then round 4 clues. Then we had our last camera session. Afterwards we had dessert! YUM! I blew out the candles! Then we did a final vote. Only 3 people deciphered it. Then at the end we had presents. After presents we watched the camera sessions! hahahahaha that was soo funny!
The winners got big goodie bags! Then at the end I gave out goodie bags! Overall it took about 5 hours!

Thank you for one of the best parties ever. Each year, the ladies and I celebrate my birthday with a murder mystery party. This was the first (but not the last) party from your site. I loved the ease of planning. The materials were easy to print and use.

We played with the menu a bit and came up with theme related names for our dinner; Bed Head of Lettuce with French Twist Dressing, Braided Bread, Hot Waxed Yellow Beans, Curly Fries, Shaved Pork, Gel-o Salad, Strawberry Bombshell Punch with Chocolate Mouse and Blondies for dessert. Each player brought a part of the dinner with them; making the meal a snap.

Our extreme make-over using Beautiful Blue Eye Shadow, Pink Blush, and Red Lipstick had Side Splitting - Shocking Results! The makeup expert stood facing the person receiving the make-over. Her job was to tell the makeup artist, who is standing behind the person receiving the make-over, where to apply the make up. "No peeking" make up artist until your work is done…

I would highly recommend this site for murder mystery parties. Have FUN!.......

We had our party last night and had a great time!  Our hostess even had a manicurist friend and Mary Kay consultant there to fill time and give it a pamper yourself feeling.

Good Times!!

Everyone had a great time.  It was so nice to have a party that was different from the past.  I highly recomend this to anyone that wants to have a good time.  We did each other nails, ate and mingled about while trying to guess who did it.  The Whodunnit game was a big success it added a lot to the overall effect.

We had a great time, I borrowed props from a friend that owns a salon and it looked like the party took place in a real Beauty Shop. I had a life size doll cover with a sheet as the crime scene and roped off with yellow police tape. There were lots of directions and I had to sift through them several times to organize the party but we all dressed and stayed in character all night!

Who would have ever thought a murder could be so comical and fun!!! Beauty Shop of Horrors had everyone actively involved while enjoying an afternoon of spa pampering.

Originally, we had more people who wanted to experience the fun than we had parts. Thanks to the creators of the game that was not an issue. We cleverly designed parts for the extras! We added CSI agents and Salon employees. Our favorite Mary Kay consultants  even joined in as characters,  while giving us facials, manicures, and some new makeup. Each new character had a mysterious secret for wanting Brittany gone and they played it to the max.

The game lasted approximately 2 1/2 hours with more twists and turns than a Six Flag's rollercoaster ride! Thanks for ALL the laughter and fun!!!! I can't wait to host another one!!!

What a great get together idea.  Being someone else for the evening really made things fun and exciting.  The web-based mystery really builds anticipation to the night of the event.

This is a great murder mystery.  I hosted the party and 10 of my girlfriends came.  Everyone had a great time and only one person guessed the killer.  The guests took their characters to a whole different level, and I had to keep telling them that was not part of the script, lol.  At the end we had a toast to Beauty Shop of Horrors.

My party was so awesome!  We had a great time and stayed up until dawn!I recomend this to every one. It is easy to use, and I  think I'm going to buy another one!  It was so twisted! We were perfect for the parts we had, and after words we played w/ an ouija board!

What a fantastic script and idea- it fitted in so well with our group and we matched the characters well! We added to the humour of the evening by playing Britney Spears songs, with our favourite being hit me baby one more time! Many bruises after that one but thankfully we have recovered and live to tell the tale, unlike poor Britt.
