I did read all the reviews before beginning the party plans.  They were very helpful, and I did use a lot of the ideas.  Our party was a hugh success.  None of our guests had participated in this type of party, so were unsure of things.  The "casting call" helped to clear most questions.  Most of them did not come in costume; but they did come in character.  It was wonderful to see all the adlibbing being done.  It had been a very long time since I''ve laughed that much.

This was the first such event any of us had done, and we made heavy modifications. We did this primarily because we wanted to film it all.

We hid all the clues, and in the round before they were needed we gave the reader a 'clue' on where to find the clue..

As we filmed each round we used the camera to 'prompt' each person when to ask any questions they had. We also wrote in an inspector that basically drove the event along for us.

I gave out the background and introductions a few days in advance, and gave all characters their complete data just prior to the start. This was to allow them to better develop their character personality. I also removed the information on their guilt, except for the real killer.

In the 3rd round, we fingerprinted each suspect and attached them to the fingerprint analysis sheets we had printed beforehand. Then we made the results available in round 7.

We also made a stuffed dead body for our victim and modified the script a little to allow for the party to be in "Hal O'Weens" office instead of the house.

All in all, though it ran a bit longer than we planned for, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and get into the spirit of things. I would rate it an enjoyable success. In the end, nobody picked the right killer, although someone almost did and then changed their mind.

This made for a great Halloween weekend party! We had people of all ages playing and everyone fit in perfectly! We can't wait to do another murder mystery party again soon.

Horror in the Haunted House was a great success.  Our party used 13 of the 14 characters, everyone was in character, and played their respective parts.  It was fun, engaging, and everyone left excited and ready to do it again.

I had a character for every guest that attended. More people dressed up than any other year and everyone had a blast! I had a great time making the characters and preparing for the party.

Had a lot of fun with the game.  Upper limit of the game was for 14 guests. I knew after purchase of it I would have 15.  Not terribly difficult to write in a new character: E. Z. Muhney, producer of Hal O'Ween's horror films.  His/her motive was that although all of Hal's movies were critically acclaimed, and his first few made a profit at the box office, his last few films were losing money.  The evidence for all to see was a cost/benefit analysis of each of the first 7 films.
My wife was retiring on 10/31, and we played the game on 10/27 as a Retirement/Halloween party.  The game was played around a buffet of finger food.  Everyone got into the spirit and came in costume.  Everyone had a good time and dressed for their parts.  Four or five people guessed the right killer, so it wasn't too hard to figure out.
The downside of the game was that not all materials e-mailed from the web site went to the recipients.  The general instructions lead you to believe that the clues would be revealed informally as the guests mingled, but actually it was more of a Q&A game where everyone had to hear all of the clues as they were read out loud.  The Q&As in the game materials were in no particular order and, although I tried to put them in a logical order, the guests were reluctant to start off each round without prompting by me as host.
Anyway, all had fun.  We got some pictures which I may try to upload if I have time and can figure out how to do.

I had a great time with this...lots of fun and a great way to get know people.  I haven't been on stage as a performer for years, but this gave me the opportunity to "perform".

We were all first time Murder Mystery players and we all had a lot of fun.   Staying organized is the number one thing.   As host and player I was busier than others, but had a great time. I would suggest to turn off tvs and music so the game can be played out.   I always made sure the announcements were heard by everyone at the end of the round to make sure people received the clues.   I did notice that most clues among guests did seem to make their way around the room.   We are definitely going to host another from host-party.com.

BRAVO!!!  Well done folks!  This was a huge hit with all the party goers.  Everybody really got into their parts and hammed it up even adding extras as we went along.  Only three out of fourteen guessed the murderer correct so you did a good job not giving up the culprit along the way.  Some of the folks that attended had been to other murder mystery type parties before and said this one was well written and much better than the others they had played.  We decorated the house up like a haunted house with scary theme music, smoke machines, and lots of dry ice in the fountains etc.   We had a dead body all dressed up as Hal complete with a big rat chewing on Hals arm.  The fingerprint analyzer was a big surprise for everyone, it would have worked better if it had a place in the script to actually use it but we made due.  We did two rounds and then took breaks for food and cosmos, wine and visiting between.  Took about four hours all together but we did take several breaks.  The night flew by and all the attendees are still raving about it.  Again, WELL DONE.  We will be back for more hopefully new and exciting Halloween themed mysteries next year.

Downloaded party & printed & held game with 10 people. Took about 2 hours after dinner.
Things we liked;
Story was understandable, funny, and colorful yet to the point.
The wording was family friendly, no vulgar language.
Things we didn't like;
Organization - printed out whole acrobat file but map is different size.
Printed page font was too small, could have been much larger to fill the 1/2 sheet of paper.
Logo behind type made reading it difficult.
We really didn't know who was to ask the first question during a round.
If we had put each round in a separate envelope for each person, we would have used 80 envelopes. We chose to staple each round together and put all in one envelope in order of rounds.
Overall, it made a fun evening and was enjoyed by all. Thanks

Wow!  What an amazing Murder Mystery!  I liked how there were specific clues to each round.  This helped us move along very quickly.  As we had a big room to work with the guests ended up moving around and mingling, but before long all the guests started following each other because new evidence was being found.  I created 2 new Detective positions as Detective Klu Less and Detective LuLu.  The Detectives read the second part of Elle Razor's beginning, letting all of the characters know that they would be investigating the murder.  At the beginning of Round 4 they announced they'd be taking Finger Prints, and we had a table set up to take finger prints.  At the beginning of Round 7, our detectives gave the fingerprint analysis, that had been pre-printed, but the guests decided to disregard the evidence and point at people that had come up as a "No Match" with the analysis.  We gave awards for Murder Sluth (the people that solved the murder), as well to the Best Actor/Actress, and to the Best Costume.  Everyone had a wonderful time, and was very glad that they came.  I can't wait to do this again!

This was a lot of fun.  The 14 characters were extended to over 30 people.  Everybody had a part, had clues and asked questions.  Before the last round a detective announced 14 suspects.  There were 4 people who guessed the murderer.  There were awards for the Best Actor, Best Actress and Best costume.  It was so much fun and everyone is still talking about it!

The game was fun; a lot of people got involved.  Unfortunately, a lot of people backed out last minute, so the a lot of characters had to discard questions/answers to people that weren't there.  Also, time was an issue.  With eight rounds it took a while to get through, and some people had to leave before the last round.
Other than that, I think everyone enjoyed it, and only one person correctly guessed the murderer.

We had 22 people play this game, which is a few too many for the number of characters to assign.  We made the extra people "detectives."  Our detectives were the ones who read the evidence outloud.  Also, no one could lie to a detective.  They may not have had clues, but giving them these two extra things that none of the other characters had made them feel like they were part of the game, too.

Our guests had a great time!  It was a perfect way to get everyone up and talking to people they might normally not chat with.  So much fun!

This is a great murder mystery.  All the guests came in full charcter-suggested costume.  This was our 3rd murder party from host-party.com and it was another success.  The guests really got into the murder, using 'clue-like' solving techniques by writing down important clues.  I gave a prize to whoever guessed the murderer or if no one did, the murderer would win.  It gave everyone the incitive to talk to each other before starting the next round.  Alchohol really helps the guest loosen up and get into character.

Have fun!

The perfect game for Halloween. It took a few rounds for everyone to really get into it, this was the first time most had done something like this, but by the end everyone was having a good time (all 14 characters were filled). Not many people guessed the killer mostly because a key clue didn't circulate well but in the end it didn't really matter and a poll of everyone indiciated they had fun and are looking forward to playing another mystery in the future.

We had a great time with the party.  It was a little difficult as I did the party for 32 people who belong to a motorhome group.  The haunted house was a tent which was erected in the middle of an RV Park.  I also came up with 16 of my own characters, with clues, motives, etc.  But, it was a success and everyone had a great time. At first, not everyone was sure if they wanted to do a murder mystery, but when it started the guests were really into it...

Well what a brilliant evening we all had.  Lots of great costumes, great company, great food of course (thank you Denise & Robert), and a great Murder Mystery to solve.

The costumes worked really well and some people were very very scary - the Mummy in particular!

The Mystery rounds and clues were all well written and alot of guests did guess the murderer correctly.

All in all - a very enjoyable evening.
