It was our first mistery party and I was not sure that the girls would really get into it. This type of party is not known in Spain but I must say that the girls loved it and they want more.Being all Spanish girls I had to translate all the clues and also I had to add a few characters( I created a spoiled rich boyfriend, an ambitious dancer, a jealous friend and another choir singer). I followed the suggestions of other reviewers and had a couple of police officers and also the crime scene with the taped outline on the floor). I had lots of fun organizing this and we will certainly have another one for my oungest daughter, this time probably a spooky one around Halloween.

Death of a Teen Idol
this party was such a blast. We all had so much fun. Everyone played their part so well. We all dressed for our character and we all laughed until late in the night. We hadn''t done one of these parties before so I was a bit nervous but amazingly everyone just fell into the game without a hitch. Definately a game for all skill levels.

Trailer Trash Tragedy
This was a huge success because of the well writen and organized game. The author was instrumental in helping me create more characters and more ideas for pre and post activities. We invited my daughter''s entire 6th grade class to share in her birthday "World Animal Rescue" in May 2006. It was perfect for these 11-12 year old boys and girls. There were parts for those who like to quietly participate and actively participate. We also broke into teams that mixed up the kids and all got along perfectly and all were engaged in the activities. We played the game in our backyard and in our house. So it works no matter what the weather. I HIGHLY recommend this murder mystery! Nancy Adelson

World Animal Rescue
I used the 70''s Murder Mystery as my daughter''s surprise 16th birthday party. We had her costume ready to go in her bedroom. My nieces kept her out after school until time to come. Her friends for the most part came dressed in homemade costumes. They weren''t too excited about the disco dance off, but when I played Y.M.C.A. everyone started moving! The trivia was too hard for them and it was a clue, BUT, I read the answers to them in round 3 as instructed. That gave them the opportunity to see the clue in the game. They missed it. I showed it to them when we were done. "Ohhh" was the reaction! Very fun. My daughter was soo surprised. I hope to do a murder mystery party again. Not bad for the 1st try! I think I can do it better next time!

Death of a Pirate (Teen)
We had nine 15-year-olds over for a birthday party and incorporated this game. It turned out great. Overall, it was a great party. We finished after about 2.5 hours. Then we had cake and ice cream and shooed them off to do whatever for the rest of the party. They all seemed very happy with the event. The following Monday at school, they were still referring to their characters...
...I'd recommend this for a teenage party. I imagine adults would enjoy it too.

Killers International Annual Meeting
This was really fun for a first time group. We didnt give out all our clues ahead of time like some did, we just gave out the hidden information from each round. It helped people develop the characters. Everything went smoothly and even people who had never played before thought it was fun and easy. Thanks!

And the Winner is....Murder
We did this game for my daughter''s 14th birthday party. There were 8 girls total and they had so much fun! There were a few of the optional characters that I needed to read to them so they fit into the story, but overall, the optional characters weren''t missed. The girls played right into their clues and the part of the story where two girls got into a fight was played out to perfection. My advice is #1 have someone to set up the party that will not be playing. And #2 that person should read every single clue and pick characters carefully. It made it so much fun to have the more outspoken guests play the obnoxious characters and that left the more subtle characters to the shyer guests. None of the the girls guessed who the killer really was and they thought that was hysterical. Great fun!

That '70s Murder
My party!
It was fantastic. We began with Lily White's speech, the sound effects worked nicely. We had many rounds (i think 7) to get guessing. I had a hard time! It was great, the food was interesting, the sauce was funny, but still good. I thought that everyone (but Bob!) made good on their costume effort! Dad, you were great in those chaps! i felt ridiculous but hey! so what? Round 8 was the guessing, one person got it right!
I think that it was a success and The feur pud was delicious. Ich Leibe Wacklepudding und Eis!

Murder in the Wild West
I had a great time with my friends. The only thing is that it's too short. It only took us about an hour to finish the game. Add in some extra rounds. But other than that it was great. The best music I found that went well with the game was some of the dance club classics.

The Beverly Hills Cheerleader Murder
This was a fun game. We used this game for my daughter's 9th birthday party (a week before Easter) which was a great age group. The girls picked their characters as they R.S.V.P'd for the party, which they all seemed to think was fun. The girls were all fluent readers so we even had them pick the adult or "teacher" roles, which worked fine. Instead of doing the opening games, we had the girls start by doing some crafts. They made flower pens and decorated clip boards that then were used for the mystery games (and kept as party favors). I would recommend cutting out the clues ahead of time and using double stick tape on the school "maps" to keep the party moving. After the culprit was revealed the girls went upstairs for pizza while the now found Easter bunny (my husband) hid eggs for an egg hunt. We hid one egg of each color for each of the girls so that once they found their eight eggs they could help their friends. We really liked the fact that all of the characters were cute and funny and that even the culprit was not mean spirited or scary.

Death of a Teen Idol
We had 14 guests come over for the ''Death of a Wizard'' Murder Mystery and everyone had a wonderful time.
Every character was represented and I loved the fact that everyone had clues and questions to ask of each other. We''ve tried other Murder Mystery companies and unless you were a suspect and a required character, your involvement was really limited. But not with this one...
...All in all EVERYONE had a WONDERFUL TIME!!!

Death of a Wizard
Death by Chocolate was a define success as a girls'' night you will never forget. It was priceless! The only problem we had was not realizing that we needed about 3 1/2 hours and not the 2 we originally planned for. I would definetly recommend this site for others who enjoy mureder mystery games as it is easy to adapt the game you order for your groups of friends. As a host I was able to adapt the suggested props and costumes. The site makes it very easy to communicate with the guests.

Death of a Pirate
We hosted Beverly Hills Assassin for our daughter''s 12th birthday - a spend-the-night party for 10 girls. The mystery was written for 8 girls, but the website let us add a couple of "custom characters" and we were able to copy their character description and pictures from the online sources. We edited the descriptions some and went back and added to the "script" so that everybody had a speaking part and/or actions to perform in every round. We also updated the flowcharts for the rounds to include the new characters (using an separate word processor).
The clues provided were great, the props and ideas on building the bomb were creative, and the girls had a blast! (hmm... pun intended, maybe...) I did have a problem the first time I tried to print the invitations one night to mail them the next day. I called and emailed the contact numbers we had as we were down to about the last 10 days before the party. I was amazed that I had an email response the first thing the very next morning. I was told how to fix the problem, and also emailed an invitation to use as a template in case the online directions did not work. The customer service was great.
My other concern was that the mystery would be up too early in the evening. We ended up starting it around 7 and, between the eating and gift opening and cake breaks, didn''t finish it until around 11! All of the girls seemed to really enjoy acting out their characters personality (and still answer to their character names when we see them around!).
We were very pleased and would recommend the host-party.com site.

Death of a Teen Idol
The game was a blast. The murder we chose was Death of a Teen Idol. The girls got into character and remained in character. We had a detective and his assistant. We Took mug shots and had a realistic crime scene. The detective was so convincing the girls thought he was an actual detective. It was neat to host a party that was different than any the girls had ever been to. They loved it!

Death of a Teen Idol
We did this for my sister''s 11th birthday,We held it on 3/13 at 3:13 after school. It was really fun and all of the girls really seamed to like it. They all thought they did it, then they decided a group of them had done it. The only thing that wasn''t good was we had 12 girls and had to make up charachters so there were four girls who had clues but no speaking clues, some of them were disappointed. It also didn''t take as long as expected, only about an hour and a half to two hours....with eating appetizers and a main course. We had dessert after we wrapped up the mystery. Overall the girls really liked it!

Death of a Teen Idol
We had a great night! Played with 5 couples. Everyone came dressed up and read their descriptions and even brought their character appropriate props. We chose not to do the first activity (dance contest) but did enjoy the 70''s trivia activity. The clues were fun and a couple of the female characters really got into a fight over a guy!! We had wine at the beginning, read #1 clues, then went to dinner. After dinner did trivia and #2 clues and then had chocolate fondue. After dessert, followed with wine, guesses and then reading of #3. It took about 2.5 hours. But we took a while talking about other things as well. I would recommend this game. Of course you get what you put into it. It would be boring if everyone didn''t get really into it with costumes and all. The only negative was when clues involved characters that we did not cast.

Death of a Teen Idol
This was an exceptional event !
This was well-written by Host-Party.com, easy to access and add characters (the more people found out about it, the more wanted to come)..and easy to email invitations and character information, so guests could put their attire in order.
I added in the invitations that this was "the Captain''s Formal Christmas Dinner" to set the dress code (even tho'' it was 1920''s) ~ and to allow for this to be our "Christmas Party" and add those elements to the decorations.
All in all it was a wonderful evening, and more than one year later people are STILL talking about it! Now I''ve been asked to help a friend in a neighboring community to assist her in putting together this party, and the Host-Party.com staff have been exceptional in their assistance to bring this ''murder'' back to "life"!!!

One of my favorite things about this murder mystery was hearing people get into character and talk about what they were going to wear beforehand. It made the fun last longer! On the night of the mystery the costumes were hilarious and I still laugh thinking about them. Everyone did a great job playing their part and that made the whole thing a blast. Trailer Trash Tragedy
We had a great party! We had about 80 guests. The only suggestion i have is during the 3rd and 4th act it was very confusing the way it was written. It would have been easier for the characters if it had been line by line rather than all the lines of a character on one sheet. It was hard for the characters to know when it was their line. If you do purchase this i would recomend puttin g those two acts on one sheet and copying it for everone to make it easier to understand. Other than that it was great! i would encourage all guest to dress the theme so they look like towns people during the play. We rented a large tent with heaters so we would have plenty of space. We served Carribean jerk pork, fruit cheeses and of course rum punch! My husband thought it was crazy to have a "play" and all the extras why not just a halloween party? Well by the end of the party he was talking about next years party and how we needed to choose the play now and practice for next year! We are hooked!!!!!

The Railburn Affair
This is the second Murder Mystery party we have hosted and we had a great time! We had 10 players so some additions were necessary. I didn''t want to know the outcome of the game, so I blindly invented two parts and entertwined them with only the knowledge in the character discriptions. We expanded the script to include a twin sister to the victim, Eleanore Watkins, and a financial backer, Josephine Banks. Once I found out how to add the clues and info for the new chracters, it went very smoothly. Surprisingly, it worked out well!! We will do another one soon.

And the Winner is....Murder
We had a blast with this game. The girls loved it! Even the quieter friends got into it. We ended up having one of the girls not be able to show up but it was easy to quickly adjust the clues and continue playing. We did all of the acts while sitting around the dinner table so nobody really noticed the accessories being held. The girls even ad libbed a few parts, really got into character, which definitely helps add to the mystery. Great time. We''ll definitely host another mystery party.

Intrigue on the Interstate
We did this mystery as an all ladies Christmas Party. The murder mystery was the entertainment for the party. Out of the 25 guests, 10 were characters. We had a husband greet the guests in a tux. Another husband served a martini to everyone as they entered. Then the boys left. The party started. We started with lasagna, caesar salad, garlic toast as our meal. Then Carrie was found and the fun began. I had all of the clues in individual envelopes for each session and handed out the first seven at the beginning of the evening. I did not had out the final round until after everyone wrote down their guess. We did 3 sessions first and then had a 15 minute break. At this time Iona Rabbit did a demonstration of her sex shop items. We carried on until the 7th was finished. Then we had everyone write down their guess as to who the murderer was. The 4 that guessed right had their names put into a hat and we had a gift for the winner. We also gave a gift to the best actress. Everyone came in character and were just wonderful. This was so much fun and we had rave reviews from all who attended. At the end we had a gift exchange from under the tree so everyone went home with something. I would definitely recommend this one to a fun group of women.
P.S. We had a rehearsal a week earlier just so everyone was comfortable with what we were doing. I did not let them have the solution round until the actual party so only the murdered knew who she was. Thanks.

Trailer Trash Tragedy
We had a fantastic time! Thanks to the excellent host-party.com website, each guest felt personally invited and served. Costumes were a scream, as guests followed the suggested apparel and then added a prop here and there. Both the characters and plot were well-conceived, and just one person correctly guessed who was the culprit. The only flaw was possibly the clues which were at times confusing and contained such phrases as, "If Ima O''Pare is playing..." It would be a good idea for the hosts to edit the game materials before printing them out. We will definitely do this again or risk disappointing all of our friends!

A Holiday Murder
This turned out to be a great night! It took a few minutes for everyone to get into character, but once they did, it was great! The dancing contest was fun, but the quiz was tough for anyone not in their prime in the 70s.
Things seemed to pick up after people got comfortable with their characters-to the point that some people were calling people out on the carpet for things they had done that were revealed in their clues! It drove me to laughing several times, it was hard to keep a straight face and stay in character.

That '70s Murder
I did read all the reviews before beginning the party plans. They were very helpful, and I did use a lot of the ideas. Our party was a hugh success. None of our guests had participated in this type of party, so were unsure of things. The "casting call" helped to clear most questions. Most of them did not come in costume; but they did come in character. It was wonderful to see all the adlibbing being done. It had been a very long time since I''ve laughed that much.

Back to the Eighties
This was my first time ever doing anything like this, I had so much fun. The guest seems to have a lot of fun also. I had a group of about 30 and only 2 people guessed correctly. We had a snow storm the day of the party, so I had to replaced 3 characters at the last minute. The new cast fit right in, we all just read from the script, adlib where we found a good spot, and had no problems.
Getting ready for the evening was a lot fun for me, the web site was a lot of help.

Death and the City
We had a little trouble with logging in, but the host-party.com staff was very helpful. I agree with other reviewers that this game is fairly long (8 rounds) but it moves pretty quickly since each round is quite short. We played with only 8 characters, which also helped move things along. There were a lot of opportunities for hamming it up and having fun. You could work on solving the mystery (which made sense) or just go along for the ride.

A License To Murder
The game takes a long time, more than the two hours I had planned on so everything was a little rushed. There is a comment about food by Shabby that should be moved to earlier in the game I think. I had planned on bringing out stuff on that cue but my guests were too hungry to wait. It was a pretty good game; very easy to use. Death of a Vampire
We had a great time. We were a 40's & over crowd and casually sat around the table interrogating each other. There was caution tape everywhere, a masking tape "body shape" on the tile and two tables set up (game and dining). Everyone did an amazing job dressing the part. There were two guests that I met that night (friends of friends) that made the party by being bold, in character, bringing props, etc. We interspersed food, birthday cake, natural homemade facial scrub and facial sauna (aromatherapy oils). I gifted the guests with beauty items. Everyone seemed to have a good time. I really want to host it again with a different crowd and make it more competitive. I'd have different beauty centers and have everyone mill around to do their own interrogatng. Overall our night was very successful.

The Hip-Hop Murder
This was the first such event any of us had done, and we made heavy modifications. We did this primarily because we wanted to film it all.
We hid all the clues, and in the round before they were needed we gave the reader a 'clue' on where to find the clue..
As we filmed each round we used the camera to 'prompt' each person when to ask any questions they had. We also wrote in an inspector that basically drove the event along for us.
I gave out the background and introductions a few days in advance, and gave all characters their complete data just prior to the start. This was to allow them to better develop their character personality. I also removed the information on their guilt, except for the real killer.
In the 3rd round, we fingerprinted each suspect and attached them to the fingerprint analysis sheets we had printed beforehand. Then we made the results available in round 7.
We also made a stuffed dead body for our victim and modified the script a little to allow for the party to be in "Hal O'Weens" office instead of the house.
All in all, though it ran a bit longer than we planned for, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and get into the spirit of things. I would rate it an enjoyable success. In the end, nobody picked the right killer, although someone almost did and then changed their mind.

The drama and acting were so good and funny, and some of the off the cuff answers to the unwritten questions were perfect!! It was so much fun that we will do this again. I was going to use the fingerprint tool but I made my own version because it was running long. At the end of round 7 some of the suspects were cleared and so some had to think of a new person to suspect and more questions began and the fun lasted. It was a while before we could go on to round 8. It was worth the money and all the time and effort it took for the best murder mystery ever! I will say that going all out on the decorations really made the evening more exciting and ready to start the game. I want to thank you for your excellent customer service in your quick responses to my email questions. Your help was much appreciated. Thanks for such a wonderful game!

Horror in the Haunted House (Women only)
Played Psycho Circus on Halloween night. All of us were college students between 23 and 26. The Adult version isn't scary at all, and only adult because there are mentions of affairs or something small like that. It definitely helps to look at things ahead of time, and know what to do in each round before the game even starts. I tried to play the game myself, without looking at anything, and we often got lost. Its somewhat scripted, being sort of like a play that you watch, AND take part in. You really have to pay attention, and know your part before each round. Otherwise, if you don't and the host didn't read everything ahead of time, things will get crazy.
I had 11 girls and 2 guys playing. Its very hard to keep things in line like that as well. I tried to change names a little (Tammy instead of Tommy), but the clues reference names way too much. Not to mention everything saying "he" or "she." All in all, still fun. But by the end of it, I was very worn out.

Death and the City
The Pink Lace Diamond is a great story full of twists and turns. I had added a few characters into the mix to make it more interesting and it was tons of fun. People arrived at the event unaware of what to expect from a murder mystery dinner, and they left wondering when the next one would be.

The Pink Lace Diamond
We had 13 kids show up in costume and had 1 play 2 parts. We decorated our house like the haunted house from the scene and had scary themed food and drinks. The kids had fun and most really got into character. It took the whole 3 hours, and no one guessed who the murderer was as they played the part very well. We plan to host another murder mystery party next halloween!

Horror in the Haunted House (Teen)
All of our guests had a great time. It didn't quite have a good flow from one round to the next. I think it was my doing though. Overall, everyone laughed, ate, and enjoyed their time together. I would definitely recommend this website to anyone looking for new party ideas. My daughter said that this was the best party that she's ever had and was asking for another party like it for next year.

Death of a Vampire (Teen)
The characters were perfect and hilarious... We have hosted lots of these over the years and will continue to do so. It is nice to have the website login as you have it setup. That made invitations really smooth and being able to post afterwards is fun too.

Back to the Eighties
Horror in the Haunted House was a great success. Our party used 13 of the 14 characters, everyone was in character, and played their respective parts. It was fun, engaging, and everyone left excited and ready to do it again.

Horror in the Haunted House
This party was ace> Although it was not my party, we all had a blast. I would definatly recomend it to anyone who is stuck for a party idea. You don't know what to expect and I had never been to one before- buy it you won't be wasting your money!!! It went on for a while and by the end everyone thought it was really obvious who had killed James Bland but as always there was another twist in the plot!!! The murderer was not me, but it was so good.

A License To Murder
A hot summer night of fantastic fun on Cap d'Antibes with me dressed as the fearsome pirate Yves Eaux. Great characters whose personalities and foibles emerged beautifully as the night progressed, the twists and turns of the plot were quite fascinating, and the final revelation made perfect sense. We all had good information about ourselves meaning we could really get into the parts and quite apart from our costumes we were all very aware of who everyone was. Really looking forward to the next game!

Death of a Vampire (Teen)
We had an hilarious evening playing this game. The characters were all so much larger than life and the plot so rich in detail that everyone entered into the spirit of the story right from the beginning. The whole package was imaginatively designed to help the host establish the theme and create a great ambience.A real winner of a story and the murderer gets to walk the plank!!!

Dead Men Do Tell Tales
We used the game as a team building activity with our teachers when they returned from their summer vacation. Working as teams, they had to announce their team decision before going into the final act. It was great watching the dynamics of the group as they had to come up with one solution as a group. It was the best opening activity we have done with staff in many years.

Death of a Volunteer (Canada)
We loved this game. I played it with 9 friends and used the optional charachter, and one that I wrote. It was really fun.
I even played a joke on two of my friends who are rivals in school by assigning them Vesta and Tez.
It was one of the most fun birthday parties I had ever had.

Back to the Eighties
I planned a surprise party for my daughter's 14th birthday. All of her friends were happy to help. She is into pirates, so I thought the Death of a Pirtae would be a great activity. I went all out with decorations, food and costumes for everyone, but I know they would have had just as good of a time if I didn't. The mystery went great, they all incorporated their own personalities and lives into the characters. The party was at the end of May, (it took me this long to get to a review!) and it is now end of August. The girls still thank me for the best party they ever had. It was well worth the time, effort and money I put into this. I tell everyone about it!

Death of a Pirate (Teen)
The game was super fun. Really easy to follow and not complicated at all. Everyone had a great time eating chocolate and just hanging out. As the host I did read the cards before hand and I think it's better that way so you know how the game turns out. Even though I knew the ending, I still went along with it and had a great time. Nobody guessed who the nurderer was which was fun in the end. All and all, a great game to play with your group of girlfriends.

Night at the Waskers
This is a great party idea! me & all of my friends loved it. it was a bit hard to get the girls to ad lib, so maybe its a good idea to pre script it, or send out the first round of clues prior to the party so that people can get an idea of what to do when they arrive. i had so much fun, & i would recommend it to anyone having a party!! i'll definately do it again!

I LOVED THIS MYSTERY! My friends and I had such a great time doing it that I think I'm going to do another mystery party this year. We added the character Mrs. Mexiflower because 1 too many people were coming and we had her be the mean teacher. Over all this was my favorite birthday party I have every had.
