This year, Mr. Steen's second at Hillsdale, some girls have joined his class instead of sewing and cooking in Home Education; could it really be his superior pedagogical skills?

She was afraid that if she showed too much appreciation those countries "over there" flirting with Communism, she'd be reported to the House Un-American Activities Committee. So, her class is a party. She spends class time chatting about the latest All-American fashions and fads. Her favorite topic lately: the hula-hoop.

Moana spends most of her time complaining. She can't stand white picket fences or "I Love Lucy" but she loves jazz and playing her bongo-drum. While quite lovely, she is a bit cold and very, very lonely.

Peggy is turning sixteen today. She and John E. Good are engaged to be engaged. She’s a good, responsible girl who works part time as a receptionist for her father’s company “Sue’s Survival Supplies,” which helps customers organize and stock their private bomb shelters in case of a nuclear attack. She also writes for the school paper, the “Hillsdale High Happenings.”
